Autodesk announces 1 million users of AutoCAD LT and 100,000 registers of 3D Studio Max.

AMD launches in February the K6-III processor at 400 and 450 MHz. It combines 3D NOW technology with AMD's new TriLevel cache, a design which boosts the speed at which the chip can process instructions.

Iomega ships the new Zip drive with 250 Mb disk capacity. It's compatible with 100 Mb zip disks and has a transfer rate of 1.7 Mb/sec. Price 250 U$

IBM's first 3D graphics chip called Fire GL1

Intel 810 chip-set used in Celeron machines uses the computer's RAM for graphics work. The memory arbiter on the fly how much memory is required to complete a graphics task and then shifts the memory into a frame buffer.
